More than 300 artists and makers show and sell jewelry, woodwork, pottery, glass, paintings, and fabric art, with live music on multiple stages, international food vendors, and kids' activities like pumpkin painting and scarecrow stuffing. Giant hillside slides, the Cornundrum corn maze, hayrides, rope swings, Foamhenge, farm animals, goat village, milking demos, live entertainment, and a festival market with cider donuts and fall treats. Timed online tickets sell out on busy days; a kiddie zone serves ages 5 and under.
Taste of Bethesda11am to 4pmFreeNorfolk Ave at Cordell Ave, Bethesda, MD 20814Bethesda's long-running downtown food festival takes over Woodmont Triangle with small plates from more than 45 local restaurants, from Turkish kebabs to cupcakes and ramen. Four stages host live music and cultural performances through the afternoon, plus a kids area with face painting and crafts. Admission is free; tasting portions are bought with on-site tickets (five for $10), each dish costing one to four tickets.

The surrounding Fall Festival adds live music, food, and children's activities. Free to watch; race kits sold at the MVF office.

Demos include sheepdog herding, blacksmithing, and a sawmill, plus appearances by the Park Police. Rain or shine; $20 per car, cash only; food and some activities cost extra. Dogs are not permitted.
Oktoberfest at The Wharf2 to 6pmFreeDistrict Pier, The Wharf, 101 District Square SW, Washington, DC 20024DC's biggest Oktoberfest celebration takes over The Wharf's waterfront with the 14th annual Wiener 500 Dachshund Dash as the centerpiece. Watch dachshunds sprint down District Pier, then stick around for the stein hoisting championship, a best dressed contest, DJ sets, Sam Adams Octoberfest beer and adoptable dogs from local rescues. Free to attend; race entry fees benefit Rural Dog Rescue.
Fields of Fear at Cox Farms7:30 to 11pm, day 2 of 2, Oct 2 to 3$2515621 Braddock Rd, Centreville, VA 20120Cox Farms turns scary after dark. More than 20 acres of haunted attractions: the Cornightmare haunted corn maze, the Dark Side Hayride, and The Forest, a half-mile woodland walk. Between scares, the Firegrounds has bonfires, a dance party, karaoke, a six-lane slide, and the Fear Market. Separate ticket from the daytime festival; online only. Not recommended for kids under 12.
